Rx Mixer – It’s a Party with a Purpose!

Since 2005, IACP Foundation has awarded more than $156,000 for studies researching preparation potency and stability and outcomes of treatment with compounded medications. IACP Foundation’s annual Rx Mixer is one of the primary events for raising funds for the Foundation to support research initiatives. Rx Mixer 2012 raised more than $171,000, the second highest amount in the history of the event. Among the research funded include a stability study by Dr. Regina Peacock called, “Determination of Stability and Appropriate Beyond-Use Dates of Five Drugs Compounded in Pluronic Lecithin Organogel (PLO),” and an ongoing hormone study by Dr. Kenna Stephenson and colleagues called, “CHOIICE: Compounded Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy Outcomes: Immune, Inflammatory and Cardiovascular Effects in Premenopausal and Postmenopausal Women.” Compounding pharmacies of all sizes stand to benefit from groundbreaking research such as these as they pave the way for cutting-edge treatment of patient cases.
