Join Us for the Next IACP AdvanCE LIVE Webinar on Media Relations!

David A. Ball, MS and Greg Turner from Ball Consulting Group, LLC will be presenting Media Relations for Your Pharmacy on Thursday, July 11 at 1:00 pm CT (11:00 PT / 12:00 MT / 2:00 ET).

You are busy serving your patients and running a pharmacy, so why do you need to worry about the media and public relations? While this is a perception that is held by many, the media can have a dramatic impact on the way patients and the public perceive your pharmacy. Working with the local media can result in a positive news story about your pharmacy and its specialized services. Not working with the media, on the other hand, can have a very damaging effect upon that perception, particularly in the case of something negative being reported about your pharmacy. Attendees will learn the fundamental steps to successfully work with the media.

At the conclusion of this program, the pharmacist and technician attendee will be able to:

  • Describe three fundamental steps to successfully work with the media.
  • Outline how to write a press release, how to pitch a news story, and how to manage a media interview.
  • Identify how to prepare for and manage a crisis effectively.
  • Explain how to leverage public relations techniques for growing your business.

Register today for the 2013 OSHA Update Webinar & Live Training – June 17, 24, 25, and 26

IACP’s Collaboration with the Tennessee Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation Presents: 2013 Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Update - Live Training Webinar

Are you a pharmacist providing immunizations or CLIA-waived testing services or a pharmacy technician assisting in these services? If you are at any risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens, you are required to have live OSHA training every year.

OSHA’s fines for non-compliance can exceed $90,000. You can comply with OSHA’s training requirements for less than $70. (You do the math.)

Even if you participate in an OSHA training program every year, you are not in compliance with OSHA’s requirements if the training doesn’t have a LIVE component. In response to requests from pharmacists, the Tennessee Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation (TPREF) is offering an ACPE-accredited OSHA training webinar that meets all of OSHA’s training requirements. The 2013 OSHA Update can protect you and your pharmacy practice site against potentially devastating OSHA fines—and your pharmacy site can continue to protect the public against potentially devastating disease.

The webinar program is presented online by Stephan Foster, PharmD, FAPhA, FNAP. Dr. Foster is a retired Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service and is on faculty at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. He is on the Speakers’ Bureau for Merck and Roche and is a consultant for GSK and Sanofi-Pasteur.

For your convenience, the program is offered on the following dates and times:

IACP Sponsors Second Annual, “Virtual Hill Day”

Just Like Being There in Person Without the Travel

Next week, nearly 400 of your compounding pharmacist and technician colleagues will be gathering for IACP’s 19th Annual Compounders on Capitol Hill (CCH) in Washington, D.C., June 1-4, 2013. On Tuesday, June 4th, your colleagues will be headed to the Hill, meeting with Representatives and Senators regarding several issues, most notably, S. 959 – pharmacy compounding legislation introduced by the U.S. Senate. We need your help to educate and secure their support of changes to this proposed legislation we believe are vitally necessary on behalf of your patients and practitioners.

To those not attending CCH this year, we’d love to see you in D.C.; but, we know you have a business to run. Patients to take care of. Prescriptions to compound, prepare and dispense. You can’t make it to Washington, D.C. this year.

We have very critical issues before us as a profession. Perhaps like never before. We still need your participation and virtual presence. With IACP’s Virtual Hill Day, you can still make a real difference in helping to influence needed amendments to the current legislation, which as currently written, could potentially hinder your ability to serve your patients and practitioners.

IACP’s unique Action Alert system lets you send a personalized, IACP-prepared request for support directly from your home or pharmacy straight to the offices of both your Representative and your Senator.

Watch your inbox on Monday, June 3, 2013, for information and links on how to send a message to Capitol Hill. It takes just a few minutes and can literally quadruple the number of compounding pharmacist voices ringing through the halls of Congress.

Here is some background on our CCH legislative agenda this year. Below is a quick recap of the messages for our 2013 Congressional Ask Document that attendees at Compounders on Capitol Hill will see and take to the Hill in person.

S. 959 -- legislation introduced in the United States Senate called the Pharmaceutical Compounding Quality and Account ability Act -- creates more ambiguity and greater potential for confusion about which regulatory agency should oversee pharmacy compounding.
